The Sloop Institute for Excellence in Leadership 

The Sloop Institute for Excellence in Leadership is an advanced experience designed to complement 40 student leaders’ current training and development. The topics for each year’s program are based on components of advanced leadership, with the workshops intended for experienced leaders who know the basics, but need to dialogue about their actual experiences. Participants explore theories in areas such as: leadership, ethics, vision, motivation, creative thinking, multiculturalism and diversity. Individuals are able to share their personal leadership experiences through a wide variety of individual and small group activities. This weekend creates an opportunity for student and alumni to connect and develop relationships.

Apply to attend The Sloop Institute

The Office of Leadership and Experiential Learning invites students to apply to attend the 2012-2013 Sloop Institute for Excellence in Leadership.  The Institute will be held on March 8-9, 2013 at The Omni Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford Springs, Pennsylvania.  Applications for the Sloop Institute should be returned to Clarissa Lang either electronically (calang@frostburg.edu) or in the Braddock House between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.  Applications are due by November 15, 2012.

As a new requirement this year, students are to obtain the signature of a faculty or staff member who will endorse their application to attend the Sloop Institute for Excellence in Leadership.  Students should also include the campus phone number and email address where faculty or staff members can be reached.
