Frostburg State University senior Art and Design major Megan is the designer behind the posters, digital signage and social media designs for Late at Lane. Once a theme is determined for Late at Lane, is the one who creates the designs to bring the theme to life. She serves as the Marketing Coordinator for Late at Lane as well as works as student manager for the Lane University Center.
most recent design creation was the Snapchat filter for February's Late at Lane Mardi Gras event. She enjoys designing for events students may have never seen before.
describes designing for Late at Lane as a fun experience she says, “It’s a lot of fun designing for Lane. Robert Cooper and Kyrie give me a lot of freedom with the designs. They give me the theme name and let me just run with it. They are really good with feedback and really supportive of everything I come up with.”
One of the designs is most proud of is the logo she created for the . Creating the logo was a part of a project competition for professor Cookie Redding’s advanced graphic design class where it was selected as the winner of the contest.
interest in computer design and art began in high school when she designed most of her high school yearbook. Although she began with digital design in high school, as a child she has always loved drawing and sketching art designs. Even with love for design, her passion was not yet strong enough for her to begin with it as a major in college she says, “after a few different majors in college, I finally went with design and loved it.”
Once began majoring in Art and Design, her classes drove her passion for even more. She specifically enjoyed Redding's classes she says, “Once I got into my design class especially with Cookie, who’s a graphic design professor, seeing her passion for design and the different kinds of projects she would give us contributed to my passion for design. She also helped me make designs and start my own brand with design. So that class, in particular, stood out to me.”
is not quite sure of her dream job just yet, but she is hoping to do something with marketing and design. This summer hopes to land an internship job with Hallmark or another greeting card company to continue in the design and marketing industry.
