Empowering Communities - Helping Others – Service Through Action, Resources, & Sustainability

The ECHOSTARS Volunteer Program is a residential living-learning-serving experience for students committed to making a change in their communities. As ECHOSTARS, students empower our local communities through service as reading tutors, youth mentors, and friends to senior citizens. They work to educate others on the importance of environmental sustainability, issues that accompany poverty, and perhaps most importantly, they become ambassadors of hope.

Students participate in a learning community that fosters self-awareness and improves their skills for effective leadership. Most importantly, students in this program learn and practice civility in the face of conflict. Graduates of this program go on to lead student organizations while enrolled at FSU, but their true colors really shine when they enter the workforce after college. Many of these students continue service through AmeriCorps, VISTA, the Peace Corps, and countless causes and nonprofits. This group of dedicated students are some of FSU’s greatest leaders.
