BOREALIS WIND QUINTET
TUESDAY, APRIL 1 ~ 7:30PM
PEALER RECITAL HALL, PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
Nominated for a 2006 Grammy Award, Borealis has been acclaimed as one of Americas preeminent chamber ensembles. Irresistible energy, the highest musical integrity and five-fold charisma combine to distinguish Borealis in the chamber music field. Individually its five members have performed with symphonies and chamber orchestras in concert and on Broadway, as well as for film, television and radio. Together, flutist Katherine Fink, Tamar Beach Wells on oboe and English horn, clarinetist Kathryn Taylor, horn player Dan Culpepper and Wayne Hileman on bassoon form an exceptionally talented, skilled and lively chamber group. Their concerts have received raves in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Philadelphia Inquirer, and audiences love their exquisite programming: the finest of the classics, new commissions, opera arias and works for piano and wind. The Borealis Wind Quintet has won numerous awards and prizes, including grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and Chamber Music America. They have toured throughout the United States with notable performances at Carnegie Hall's Weill Concert Hall, the Frick Museums in New York City and Pittsburgh, and Wolf Trap in Virginia.
